Extraction Rate Calculator

(May not work on older browsers)

Fill out the fields to work out the power of the extractor you need.  Always try and duct outside if possible.  You get better efficiency. noise and extraction rates and the extra cost of set up is soon recouped compared to the cost of replacement filters.

Length of Room (in metres)
Width of Room (m)
Height of Room(m)
Ducted Extraction Rate required -;    m³/hour

Recirculated* (with carbon filter)Extraction Rate required -;    m³/hour

*If there are no recirculated rates on the hood specification, use this figure to work out the motor power you need.  Recirculating is when the exhausted air from your hood stays within the kitchen and add a carbon filter to clean the air.  That's because the filter adds an obstacle to the airflow and the the motors don't run as efficiently.

Ideally, you want a hood that achieves the result on the 2nd highest setting.  This means it wont be running at it's loudest during normal operation and you have the option to turn it up again if you need a bit more extraction.
