A venting hob is a ceramic, gas or induction hob that has a fitted extractor fan, to ward off steam, smoke, oil and odours. These modern, and upcoming appliances eliminate the need for an overhead extractor as they perform as an all in one hob system.

Venting hobs suck the steam and odours from the hob to underneath the kitchen unit. This is then cleaned by recirculation filters and vented back into the kitchen via a plinth vent or ducted directly outside. It is usually easier to recirculate venting hobs back into the kitchen as it can be a challenge to route the ducting to the wall. But just like standard hoods, ducting outside is the optimal solution in terms of noise and efficiency and the lack of replacement filters required.
Vented hobs use an extractor fan for thorough ventilation. This can be either recirculating or ducted outside. Vented hobs will either push the air through a filter or suck it straight outside. Either way, a vented hob provides great ventilation.
The answer is no, you cannot have a vented hob above an oven.The size of the motor unit below the worktop and the requirement for ducting running down means there won’t be space for an oven. Usually drawers are positioned below the hob.
