Yes, to accommodate the extra space for the two full size bowls and still have a usable drainer size, the overall length of the sink is longer. Double bowl single drainer sinks usually start at 1200mm.
Bowl and a half sinks (usually referred to as 1.5 bowl sinks) feature a small central bowl. They are usually the same size as a standard sink. Double bowl single drainer sinks (2.0 bowl sinks) have two full size bowls and one drainer and start at 1200mm.
Your kitchen base unit must accommodate both bowls, so can only be installed in a cabinet big enough. Most double bowl sinks will fit a 1000mm base unit. The Scott & James double bowl double drainer sink will fit a 900mm base unit.
